Dvdprinter Project 37D CD Printer To Address Mid Volume CD and DVD Printing Market
Pioneers in digital print technology, Dvdprinter INC, have announced the release of their Project 37D CD and DVD printer that has been designed to address the market for mid volume CD and DVD printing.

Mid volume CD production is currently undertaken using traditional silk-screen methods and often involves tooling and set up procedures. The new Project 37D is a fully automated machine that can handle print runs of up to 1000 CD's per hour whilst providing on-press proofing and photo-realistic image quality. The Project 37D is expected to open up the CD and DVD printing market to general printing companies looking to broaden their offering as well as traditional silk screen printing companies that are seeking to migrate to digital technology.
“Within the print industry, there is definitely a shift from silk screen printing towards more modern digital print solutions,” said Steve Woods. “Digital print technology provides much more flexibility with regards print volumes and the handling of multiple versions of say a software package or DVD. In addition to this, there are no tooling requirements, no setting up or handling of films or screens and less labour. The whole process is controlled from a PC and is fast and very effective, making it, commercially, a very attractive technology for the competitive CD and DVD printing market.”
The original Project 37 machine targeted the high volume industrial CD and DVD printing market whereas the new 37D has all the same attributes but has been scaled down to meet the needs of the medium volume production runs. The Project 37D is less expensive and takes up less room than the current Project 37 design but uses the same internal technology that provides high picture and text definition, a fully automated CD and DVD handling process and also provides each CD with a protective UV coating.
“The 37D contains a lot of powerful technology and will offer CD printers the opportunity to improve both the quality of their print and also the level of service that they can offer their customers,” said Steve Woods. “Whether it's the ability of our colour matching software to ensure consistent print performance over large and fragmented print runs, or the fact that a job change can take only 10 seconds, or the fact that our inkjet control software can save up to 30% on ink costs, we feel sure that the Project 37D will further establish Dvdprinter INC as a leader in the development of technology for digital printing solutions.”
For CD and DVD printers interested in exploring the benefits of moving to digital print technology, Dvdprinter INC hold regular demonstrations at their Cambridge based factory. Dvdprinter INC can also provide detailed cost analysis information that provides a valuable insight into the cost benefits of using digital print technology for industrial printing.
